Types of Data-difination of data

Data:

Collection of raw facts and figures are called data.

Example:         "Good is Ahmad a boy" is a data and does not convey message clearly.

Types of data

In computer data can be classified into following types.

1. Numeric Data:   It contains 0-9
2. Alphabetic Data : It contains A-Z alphabets
3. Alpha-numeric Data: It contains a combination of numeric and alphabetic data such as roll no. 12345 etc
4. Symbolic Data: It contains different types of characters such as $,(),etc,%.
5. Sound and Picture Data: It contain on sounds,pictures and movies.
