Editing the text

The following tasks are include in editing the text process.

  • Entering Text
  • Deleting Text
  • Selection Text
  • Selecting Text
  • Selecting by mouse
  • Selecting by Keyboard

To cancel a selection

Click any where in document or press any direction arrow key.

Inserting Text

By default word enters text in insert mode so that when you add text in the line, the next text moves ahead.If not in insert mode you can use insert button for this task.

Moving Text

You can move the text easily by cut and paste.

Cut Command

You can use cut command  by following methods.
    • Press Ctrl+X keys from keyboard.
    • Press Ctrl+V keys from keyboard.

Copy Command

You can use copy command by following methods.
    • Press Ctrl+C keys from keyboard.

For Finding the Text

  • Position the insertion point at the start of the text.
  • Press CTRL +F from keyboard.Find and Replace dialogue box appears.

For Replacing the Text

    • Press Ctrl+H From keyboard. Find and replace dialogue box appears.

Go to option

Click the find button down arrow from he Editing group of the Home tab and click the                  go to option.Find dialog box appears.

Or

Press Ctrl+G from keyboard.

Formatting the text

the following tasks are include in the formatting the text process.

To change the Font type

  • Select the text whose font you want to change.
  • Click the font down arrow under the home tab in font group.

OR
Press Ctrl+Shift+F from keyboard.

To change the font size


  • Select the text whose font size you want to change.
  • Click the font size down arrow under the Home tab in font group.

OR
Press Ctrl+Shift+P from keyboard.

Apply Bold, Italic and underline

Select the text and press Ctrl+B from keyboard for bold and Ctrl+I for Italic.

Changing the text colour

  • Select the text that you want to colour.
  • Click the font colour down arrow under the Home tab in font group.
  • Select colour from the drop down list box

Highlighting the text


  • Select the text.
  • Click the text highlight colour down arrow under the Home tab in font group.A drop down list box appears.
  • Select colour from the list.
